Berrybrook Puppy Foundation Program

Berrybrook has a full time certified professional trainer that is also an animal behaviorist.
She is Knowledge Accessed (CPDT-KA) with a bachelors degree in ethology/animal behavior, member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers, the Pet Professional Guild, an AKC Canine Good Citizen trainer and evaluator, she is licensed and insured with over 20 years of experience. She even works on commercial, TV and film productions with some of my puppies!
Puppies going into the Puppy Foundation Program are breeder choice picks and live in the HOME of a professional trainer starting at 8 weeks of age. You can expect the dog to be potty and crate trained and to be working towards having its Canine Good Citizens skills. We usually get all of these skills accomplished but they are still four months old when they go home and may need to continue working on them with you. We set a great foundation that allows you to continue at home to have a lifetime "good boy!"

This is not a program where unsold puppies are going through training while they find a home. These puppies are trained to the home and lifestyle of the family. They are in a HOME and not a kenneling facility. We NEVER use a shock collars or e-collar. With her extensive education, with how to train based on how animals learn, she is able to get the puppies focused on their handler. Every puppy is different so every puppy gets their own training video made that is your families “instruction manual.” You get video calls and support from us when your puppy goes home. We take your puppy for its four rounds of vaccinations so the puppy goes home ready to be out in public. Your puppy will be groomed by us and at a professional groomers so they are used to it and desensitized. Your groomer will love your pup. She will be her star client!
There is a difference in training programs.
Know the education and certifications of your trainer.
Each puppy is custom trained for their new home. If you live in a high rise and push a stroller then we train the puppy to walk on leash for potty while walking next to a stroller. Our Puppy Foundation pups get a video made of their skills posted privately for you to access on YouTube. That video is the families' "instruction manual." The family gets FaceTime sessions to work out any kinks or hone new skills after the puppy goes home. You get the Berrybrook support system even after the puppy is home.
The puppies go home between 16-18 weeks and are fully vaccinated* and ready to go into public with you.
*except rabies, as we want to wait until they are older

Jeter turned out much smaller than expected. He has unexpectedly become available and is ready to go home. I have a 35 minute training video finished to share and you will get a lengthy instruction for him as well as six training sessions after he goes home through a call or video call. I expect him to be under 10 pounds but he could be as large as 12, but it's very unlikely. He is the dog everyone asks for, under 20 pounds to have a better chance to travel with. He is s deep red micro mini boy. As soon as he finds his forever home we will start calling him by his new name

Ready to go home around April 20
He was 4 pounds at 6 weeks

Scooter was so handsome that he was my breeder pick that I decided to release as he is too big for what I wanted in my next dad. He keeps getting deeper red. Genetically he is a deep intensity red and should stay very dark red. He is super straight coated and has a silky coat. He is laid back and sweet and I am sure will be just as wonderful as his laid back mom and "Joe Cool" dad. As soon as he finds his forever home we will start calling him by his new name.

My husband and I are first time dog owners, so we were excited but also a little nervous about bringing home a puppy. We were ecstatic to discover Berrybrook Doodles's Puppy Foundation Program because we knew the puppy we brought home would have their basic training down.
Our Berrybrook puppy Sasha has been a dream come true. She had impeccable socialization, which made her transition to New York City a lot easier. She loves every human and dog she meets, and she melts hearts wherever we take her. Sasha slept in her crate beautifully the first night we had her, and she was already accustomed to loose-leash walking. She's a confident little pup with big pup energy, and we couldn't be happier with Abbie's impeccable matching skills and support as we've welcomed Sasha into our lives.

Our puppy journey started during the pandemic when my daughter told me that she needed a sibling or a puppy. We were on several different waitlists, but after I spoke with Abbie about backyard breeders and how Berrybrook Doodles Moms and Dads are always part of a loving family I knew they were the right fit for us. I got off of all waiting lists except hers and knew it would be worth the wait. Luckily we didn’t have to wait very long and got the puppy of our dreams. We surprised my daughter on her birthday with a video message from Abbie. Abbie not only bred our amazing puppy, but I feel like she truly cares about our family and she feels more like a friend. She is always available for any questions we have and loves getting updates on our new family. Skylar went to training school before we got her and our experience has been amazing. I am allergic to cats/dogs and have not had any issues with Skylar. She is not only a beautiful and intelligent dog, but she is so sweet and her temperament fits perfectly in our family (Abbie is quite the match maker so trust the system). She loves to snuggle and always need to be close, but also is very active - enjoys long walks on the beach and playing outside - she swims, kayaks, and even surfs. Everywhere we go we get compliments on her behavior and beauty. Skylar has become an integral part of our family and we cannot imagine our lives without her - my daughter not only got a puppy, but also a best friend (we all did).

I could not be more in love with this little girl! She is such a sweet little muppet and the training she received in the foundational program has been a godsend.
To bring a puppy into New York City life is daunting and she calmly accepted everything and is the perfect companion. Abbie has been wonderful through the whole process!
